Class 11 girl raped, three nabbed

NEW DELHI - A Class 11 student of a south Delhi school was gang raped by her neighbour and two of his friends last week, police said Monday. The three youths have been arrested.

The 16-year-old girl, a student of a private school in Chanakyapuri area and a resident of R.K. Puram, was raped by the three youths on Jan 2. The complaint was filed by her parents on Jan 3 and the men nabbed on Sunday.

“The accused have been identified as Mohit Pal, a friend and neighbour of the girl, and his two friends Sharad Kumar and Amit. All of them are in the age group 20 and 25. Mohit and Amit live in government quarters in Sector 6 in R.K. Puram area. The accused work for different hotels in the city in menial posts,” said a senior police officer.

The victim, a native of Kerala, lives with her family in the same area. Mohit, son of a government officer, lives close to her house. He leads a stylish life. “Mohit rides costly bikes and lives a lavish life. The victim, fascinated with his lifestyle, became his friend and used to for outings with him,” said the officer.

In the complaint, the victim said on Jan 2, after school she met Mohit outside her school and he took her to a restaurant for lunch. After that he took her to his friend Sharad’s rented accommodation in Mohammadpur (behind Bhikaji Cama Place) saying he wants to spend some time with her.

After reaching there, Mohit surreptitiously asked Sharad and Amit to come over there. “They took turns to rape the girl and kept her confined for a couple of hours. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the matter,” said the officer.

“She was frightened after returning home and she did not tell her parents anything about the incident. The next day she broke down and told her mother about the rape. The family approached us and we sent the victim for medical examination that confirmed rape,” added the officer.

The police then registered a case and apprehended the accused on Sunday from their residence. “We are investigating the case,” added the officer.

The victim’s father is posted in Karnataka Bhawan.
