NEW DELHI - Three people, including two brothers, have been arrested for allegedly killing a 20-year-old fruit seller at the behest of his landlord, a contractor, who opposed his getting friendly with his daughter. The contractor is still absconding, police said.
The arrested have been identified as brothers Vinod Kumar, 25 and Sonu, 23 and Mahesh, 22.
Upender, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, was found dead with his throat slit Jan 13 in the room he shared with four friends at Shivani Enclave in Dwarka’s Sector 16 B.
“The victim and his four friends were living in one of the rooms owned by the contractor. Upender started making the acquaintance of the contractor’s daughter, which was not liked by the contractor. He planned to eliminate Upender and hired three people for the task,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Sharad Aggarwal told IANS.
The contractor arranged a party and offered drinks and food to Upender and his friends. After everybody had gone to sleep, the contractor called all the three people whom he had hired and with their help, he slit Upender’s throat,” said Aggarwal.
“We are looking for the contractor and will arrest him soon,” he added.
