Four killed in Darjeeling road accident

DARJEELING - Four people were killed and eight others injured when an army dumper fell down a gorge into the Teesta river in West Bengals Darjeeling district Monday afternoon, police said.

“All the four died on the spot. The dumper fell 300 feet down,” Darjeeling’s Superintendent of Police D.P. Singh told IANS.

The accident occurred at Kalimpong on National Highway 31A, linking West Bengal with Sikkim, after the driver lost control.

The injured have been admitted to the North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri.
