NEW DELHI - A property dealer was allegedly shot at by his friend in Rani Bagh area in north Delhi and succumbed to his injuries Monday morning, police said. A business dispute was said to be behind the attack and a search is on for the assailant.
The incident came to light at around 12 a.m. in Rani Bagh area when a passer-by Kulbhushan informed the Police Control Room of a shooting incident.
“A police team reached the spot and rushed the victim, identified as Shahil Khatri, 40, to Mahaveer hospital from where he was referred to AIIMS trauma centre in a critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries this morning,” said a police officer.
Khatri was allegedly shot by his friend, Manish Yadav (41) as he was leaving his office.
“In his statement to Kulbhushan, who recorded his statement on his mobile, Shahil said that he was shot at by his friend Manish Yadav. He said Yadav had come on a bike with one of his associates, shot him and fled from the spot, said a police officer.
Yadav was also a property dealer in the same area. He had helped Khatri to join the property business a year ago and even gave him a room to open his own establishment.
“They had a dispute over a property matter for some time and Khatri was pressing Yadav to sell any property. Enraged over the issue, Manish shot at Shahil last night,” the officer added.
The officer said a case had been registered against Yadav and a hunt was on to nab him.
