NEW DELHI - A woman and her brother have been arrested for allegedly killing her live-in partner and dumping his body in a sewage tank in north Delhi, police said Saturday.

Shehnaz, 35, a resident of Rohini, and her brother Shakeel, 27, were apprehended Friday near Rithala Metro station. Victim Rakesh Gupta, 28, was employed as a tailor at Shehnaz’s boutique and was her live-in partner.

The deceased was in a live-in relationship with her for the last two years. Recently, she developed friendship with another man, to which Gupta objected. Following which, she wanted to get rid of him, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) P.S. Kushwah.

On Oct 5, 2010, Shehnaz and Gupta had drinks together. During this meeting, they entered into an argument and she hit him with a cricket wicket till he died.

She later called her brothers, Shahid and Shakeel, and dumped Gupta’s body in a sewage tank located at Sector-26 in Rohini, he said.

Shakeel, who runs a tea stall in Rohini, has an earlier involvement in another murder. Shahid is absconding, he said.
