MOSCOW - At least three people were killed when a passenger jet carrying nearly 130 people exploded shortly after making an emergency landing in western Siberia, Russian media reported Saturday.

The Kogalymavia Airlines Tu-154 reportedly experienced an engine flameout shortly after take-off from Surgut Airport in Siberia.

The plane was evacuated on landing. Reports said at least three of the passengers were killed and more than 30 injured. Witnesses spoke of panic on board the jet and passengers rushing for the emergency exits. Within 15 minutes the airliner was ablaze.

“We cannot rule out any cause, including an attack,” Transport Minister Igor Levitin said.

The plane had been carrying around 120 passengers and eight crew.
