Three held for murdering 14-year-old boy

NEW DELHI - Three people were arrested in north Delhi in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 14-year-old boy, police said Saturday.

Anil Kumar Sharma, Manish Sharma and Nikhil were arrested early Saturday. They kidnapped Vikas from Vivek Vihar in east Delhi Dec 15 and demanded Rs.15 lakh ransom from his father.

“The accused lured the boy on the pretext of buying him snacks and took him to Anil’s house in Karawal Nagar in north Delhi,” said the police official.

The half burnt body of Vikas was found buried near Sharma’s house.

“The trio were apprehended in the wee hours from the same locality. They confessed to have kidnapped the boy and murdered him that very day,” added the official.

“The kidnapped boy’s father was in the habit of gambling. He had an altercation with Anil and refused to pay the money he owed him,” a police official said.
