Man held with counterfeit currency in south Delhi

NEW DELHI - A man was arrested here with fake currency notes of face value Rs.14,000, police said Friday.

Suresh Paswan, involved in the sale of counterfeit currency, was arrested by the police Dec 25 from Defence Colony in south Delhi.

“We laid a trap after we got information that the accused will sell the fake currency notes at the DDA complex in Defence Colony. We nabbed him there and recovered fake currency notes of face value Rs.14,000 (28 notes of Rs.500 denomination) from his possession,” a senior police official said.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused used to obtain counterfeit currency from a supplier in a neighbouring country and disposed off the same in Bihar, Gurgaon, Delhi and other parts of the country, police said.

Paswan hails from Hazaribagh in Bihar.
