NEW DELHI - On the International Anti-Corruption Day, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) launched a new portal ‘VIGEYE’ where citizens can upload videos or audios on any act of corruption directly from their mobile phones Thursday.

The new citizen-centric initiative of the CVC will enable even common man to carry out a sting operation. The complainant just needs to download a mobile application software from the CVC website, www.cvc.nic.in, and can then start uploading audios or videos. It will be taken up by the commission for further enquiries.

Alternatively, one can register on the CVC website or SMS on 9223174440.

“The CVC’s new portal is user-friendly and is an effective method for the citizens to report corruption,” Central Vigilance Commissioner P.J. Thomas said.

However, former chief vigilance commissioner N. Vittal said: “The new portal can just act as a mere post office where the citizens can give in their complaints.”

He also said that CVC should not just be a complaint collector but it should get powers to sanction prosecution against corrupt public servants.
