Delhi Police gets over Rs.3,000 crore in budget

NEW DELHI - Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Monday gave Delhi Police Rs.3,309.75 for the fiscal 2011-12 in the union budget, including funds to build offices and residential complexes across the city.
In the budget presented in the Lok Sabha, Mukherjee has allocated Rs.99 crore in plan expenditure and Rs.3,210.75 crore in non-plan expenditure for Delhi Police.
Of this Rs.10 crore is for construction of residential buildings for police personnel and Rs.21 crore is for building offices.
For developing traffic and communications network and a model traffic system, the minister has given the national capital’s police Rs.82 crore and for installation of traffic signals Rs.2 crore has been allocated.
The police got Rs.1 crore for upgradation of training programme and Rs.1 crore for induction of latest technology in the force.
