NALCO chief suspended for graft

BHUBANESHWAR - A.K. Srivastava, chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of the National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO), was suspended Saturday, a day after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly accepting a bribe, a company official said.
A NALCO official, confirming the development, said they had received instructions over phone from the union ministry of mines. B.L. Bagra, the company’s finance director will be incharge, he said.
CBI Friday arrested Srivastava and his wife Chandni Srivastava, along with two accomplices, Bhushan Lal Bajaj and Anita Bajaj, in Delhi for accepting bribe.
CBI Special Judge O.P. Saini Saturday sent all four to police custody till March 3.
