Bangladeshi accused of murder in US arrested

NEW DELHI - A Bangladeshi accused of a 1989 murder in the US was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here Thursday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an official said.
Mahfuz Huq was an absconder and was hiding in Bangladesh. An Interpol red corner notice had been issued against him at the request of US authorities.
“He had been living in Bangladesh under different identities and would constantly change his name, date of birth and passport. He was detained by immigration authorities in the national capital on arrival from Bangladesh and was handed over to police and was formally arrested,” a CBI official said.
The Interpol Wing of CBI has informed the external affairs ministry of the arrest for initiating the process of extraditing him to the US.
