NEW DELHI - A 20-year-old handicapped woman from Jharkhand was rescued and four people were arrested from Delhi and Gurgaon on charges of abduction and molestation, police said Wednesday.
The four arrested people were identified as Saleem, 32, Pinku, 24, Sumeer, 38, and Sanjit, 28, all residents of Jharkhand. They were arrested during separate raids in Delhi and Gurgaon between Feb 2-5.
We got a call Feb 2 that a few people were trying to kidnap a woman in Defence Colony. We rushed there and found a 20-year-old woman, hailing from Jharkhand, in trouble, said a police officer.
Their accomplice RajKumar is absconding, police said.
Police are also hunting for Jai Ram, a resident of the woman’s neighbouring village in Jharkhand, who brought her to Delhi and sold her on Jan 31 to Rajkumar, Saleem and Pinku for Rs.10,000.
Those accused told police that they had sold the victim’s elder sister, who was brought to Delhi from Jharkhand earlier, to Sanjit and Sameer, owners of K.K. Enterprises in Shakurpur. Following which, police apprehended them and rescued the victim’s elder sister.
