ITBP aspirants go on rampage

BAREILLY - Thousands of aspirants for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) here Tuesday indulged in arson and vandalism alleging mismanagement in the force’s recruitment drive, an official said.
“Angry over arrangements made by the ITBP for recruitment of Grade IV posts, candidates targeted a number of vehicles, setting some of them afire. The candidates also targeted several shops,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prakash D. told IANS on telephone.
“The situation is tense, but under control. Heavy security arrangements have been made in the wake of violent protests by the candidates,” he added.
According to police, candidates from several states had converged to participate in the recruitment process at the ITBP centre in Bareilly, some 250 km from here.
ITBP is a paramilitary force.
