CHENNAI - The Chennai Police has issued fresh summons to Indian Premier League’s (IPL) former chairman Lalit Modi to appear in person on a criminal complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), a senior official said Thursday.

Fresh summons have been issued asking Modi to appear in person before the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on any one of the following dates - Jan 25, 27 and 28 - and clarify his position, Police Commissioner T. Rajendran told reporters here.

The fresh summons come after the one issued on Dec 27 last year was returned as refused.

According to Rajendran, police will move the court if the summons are not obeyed.

Last week Rajendran told reporters that some losses seem to have been incurred by BCCI in the matter of award of media rights and free commercial air time.

BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan had lodged a criminal complaint against Modi last October alleging misappropriation of funds to the tune of around Rs.469 crore.
