Minor killed in anti-encroachment drive

SITAPUR - A minor boy died after a wall collapsed on him during an anti-encroachment drive by the municipal board in this Uttar Pradesh town, police said Monday. A case has been filed against three civic officials.

Saurabh Kumar, 12, died in Busganj area after the wall razed by the board officials collapsed on him.

“A case under sections 279 (rash driving on a public way) and 304 (death by negligence) has been registered against three staffers of the municipal board,” Police Inspector R.P. Shahi told reporters in the town, some 80 km from Lucknow.

According to police, of the three staffers, one is a driver who was operating the bulldozer, while other two employees were a part of the anti-encroachment team.
