Woman attempts suicide after killing her kids

UNNAO - Depressed over her poverty, a 35-year-old woman here Friday killed her three children before attempting suicide, leaving her battling for life in a hospital.

Guddi made her two sons and a daughter aged between 5 and 12 years consume poison and she too drank it, police said.

Neighbours who saw them unconscious in their house in Dalha village rushed the four to the district hospital.

While the children died, Guddi was warded in serious condition, police inspector Shagir Ahmad said in Unnao, some 35 km from Lucknow.

Guddi’s husband died a month back following prolonged illness. As the woman was unable to take care of her children, she had told neighbours she would commit suicide if her financial condition did not improve.
