Two arrested for murder

NEW DELHI - Two people shot dead a man to avenge the murder of a relative in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The duo has been arrested, police said Thursday.

Ghanshyam Chauhan, 30, and Amit Raghav, 28, shot dead Kapil, a resident of Meerut, Jan 28 as Chauhan wanted to take revenge for Kapil having murdered his brother-in-law, Rakesh.

“As Rakesh’ wife and Chauhan’s sister, Raj Bala was also arrested in the case her in-laws and kids refused to accept her after she was released on bail. This enraged Chauhan who decided to kill Kapil,” said a police official.

He became friends with the victim and purchased two country made fire arms from the victim.

On the day of the incident, Chauhan called Kapil in the area of Milan Vihar, north Delhi and after interacting with him for a while Chauhan pulled out the pistol and threatened Kapil. Sensing danger, the victim tried to flee from the spot but Chauhan fired at him and the bullet hit the victim’s waist.

“In the meantime co-accused Amit also joined in and fired a bullet in Kapil’s chest. The victim was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences trauma centre but was declared brought dead,” added the official.

Chauhan was apprehended from Sant Nagar, north Delhi while Amit was caught from the walled city Wednesday, added the official. The police have recovered both the weapons of offence.
