KOLKATA - Condemning the Feb 15 killing of a 16-year-old lad by three men when he tried to prevent them from misbehaving with his sister, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan Thursday said the attackers should be “taken out on the street”.

“I think everyone has condemned it. I fully, completely and totally condemn the Barasat incident. It should never have happened,” said Narayanan on the sidelines of a foundation stone laying ceremony of a girls’ hostel in Murshidabad district.

Narayanan, former National Security Advisor, said: “Everyone of those fellows should be taken out on the street…”

The youth, Rajib Das (16), was severely beaten up by three men late Monday night when he protested their misbehaviour with his elder sister Rinku Das near Barasat in North 24-Parganas district. He died of his injuries Tuesday in a city hospital.

One of the attackers has been arrested, police said.
