Girl seriously injured in wall collapse

NEW DELHI - A four-year-old girl was critically injured Friday when the wall of the next-door police station collapsed on her house in north Delhi, police said. The girl has been admitted to a hospital.

A fire department official said the incident took place in Welcome area at around 1.30 p.m.

The girl Tannu, daughter of Subodh Kumar, along with the other members of the family, including her mother Renu, grand father Krishan Kumar and siblings Munish (6), and Prince (3) lived in I-49 in Majdoor Janta Colony. She is a nursery school student.

According to an official, Krishan Kumar runs a hostel whose wall is attached with the Welcome police station building. Friday afternoon, when the girl was sleeping in the hostel, the police station wall collapsed on the hostel wall, said the official.

A local resident said the girl was buried under the debris and was rushed to Sushruta Trauma Center, where her condition is said to be critical.

According to Krishan Kumar, the police station building was recently constructed, but the collapsed wall was damaged and had not been repaired.
