BHUBANESWAR - Six criminals were arrested Tuesday from the house of a Congress legislator here, police said.

Based on a tip-off, police raided the flat of Ramesh Jena in an apartment located in the heart of the city, and managed to nab the six who even opened fire on the police team, Police Commissioner B.K. Sharma told IANS. Nobody was hurt in the firing, he added.

Citing eyewitnesses, Sharma said the criminals were frequently vising Jena’s house.

Jena, who represents Sanakhemundi constituency in the southern Ganjam district and is currently out on bail in a murder case, said he did not know the arrested people.
