Maoist-backed tribal leader held in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - A leader of Maoist-backed tribal outfit Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) was arrested Sunday in Orissas Koraput district, police said.

Ram Padi, 35, second in command in the CMAS, was nabbed from Bandhugaon area, over 500 km from Bhubaneswar.

He was sought by both Orissa and Andhra Pradesh police for his involvement in more than 12 criminal cases including murder, arson and rioting,” Superintendent of Police A.K. Sahu told IANS.

Koraput is one of Orissa’s worst Maoist-hit districts.
