Man who assaulted woman during robbery arrested

NEW DELHI - A man who assaulted a woman during a robbery bid in east Delhi last week has been arrested, police said Sunday.

Navin alias Goldy had pushed Madhumita, an MBA aspirant, near the Karkari More flyover Jan 15 as he tried to snatch her bag.

Navin and a receiver of stolen property were arrested from Rohini Saturday.

“With their arrest, five gold chains have been recovered and six cases of snatching in east and north-east districts have been worked out,” police said.

Navin is a declared “bad character” and is said to be involved in 12 cases of snatching.

“He operates on foot and on motorcycle, with his associate Kapil,” a senior police official said.
