LUCKNOW - Sixteen women paramilitary personnel posted along the India-Nepal border were injured, six of them critically, when the vehicle carrying them was hit by a state-owned bus in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district Friday, police said.

The constables of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were injured in Babanagar town when a speeding Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus rammed into their mini bus.

“All the injured are being treated at a hospital. Three of the SSB women personnel have been referred to Lucknow as their condition deteriorated during treatment,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Srivastava told reporters in Bahraich, about 130 km from here.

“All the injured are aged around 20-30 years. They all were going to their camp in Rupaideeha, situated near the India-Nepal border,” he added.

According to police, no passenger of the UPSRTC bus was injured in the accident. Police are yet to nab the driver of the bus who managed to escape after the accident.
