Nigerian drug peddler held in Delhi

NEW DELHI - A Nigerian staying illegally in the capital has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking as 52 grams of cocaine worth Rs.3 lakh was recovered from him, police said Tuesday.

Nwadike Ugo Ben was arrested Jan 8 from Gandhi Vihar area in north Delhi, where he had gone to sell drugs to his customer. He had come to India 17 years back and had stayed in Jaipur, Varansi and Chandigarh before shifting to Delhi in 2008.

“The accused revealed that he used to receive the cocaine from a fellow Nigerian, Mark, in Mumbai. He also disclosed that the drugs were sold to only reliable high-end users in Delhi,” a police officer said.

“The quality of cocaine is quite high and the amount seized is one of the biggest ever haul of cocaine in Delhi.

“The accused did not have a valid passport or visa on him for his legitimate stay in India. He has been into drug trafficking since 2008,” the officer added.
