Yellow fever epidemic kills 45 in Uganda

KAMPALA - At least 45 people have died from yellow fever in northern Uganda since early November, the Health Ministry said in a statement Friday.

A total of 174 people have been infected in nine districts across the north of the East African nation.

The viral disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and the victims suffer from high fever, loss of appetite, vomiting and in some cases bleeding from the mouth, nose and stomach.
