CHANDIGARH - A five-year-old boy was kidnapped from Burail village here two days ago and the abductors have demanded a Rs.10 lakh ransom for his safe release, police said Thursday.

According to the police, Kushpreet Singh had gone missing from outside his house here Tuesday around 12.30 p.m.

Khushi (Kushpreet) went to his fathers shop to take a packet of chips and I went to pick my elder son from the school. On returning, we did not find Khushi anywhere, said the child’s mother Kulwinder Kaur.

On Tuesday evening, the kidnappers called Kushpreets uncle and demanded a ransom of Rs.10 lakh.

We found the locations from where the kidnappers called. They were using public telephone booths situated at neighbouring Punjab towns, a police officer said.

Police sources say the child’s parents paid Rs.4 lakh to kidnappers Wednesday but the boy was not released.
