Woman Killed in Car Accident in New Madrid County

NEW MADRID COUNTY (GaeaTimes.com) — Last night, around 11 p.m., a Region 8 woman was killed as her crashed into a culvert and got overturned. The accident took place on U.S. Highway 61 just 2 miles south of Matthews in New Madrid County.

According to Missouri State Highway patrol, a 20 year old boy named Charles Nelson was driving a car at a high speed with his girlfriend Tiffany Langley, 21, beside him.. At this point he lost control of the car and struck a culvert just off the highway. This caused the car to get overturned while Tiffany was thrown off the vehicle. She died on the spot due to a massive head injury. Charles has suffered some serious injury and has been admitted into a local hospital.

MSHP has reported that both Nelson and Langley were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Further investigation is still pending.
