RAIPUR - Simultaneous raids Thursday on two houses of a junior engineer in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur town revealed that the official owns assets worth Rs.40 million, sources said.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau raided two locations of Chandrakant Manik, sub-engineer posted with Bilaspur Municipal Corporation, and seized documents, cash and jewellery that confirmed that he has amassed properties estimated at Rs.40 million, disproportionate to his known source of income.

“We are still analysing the documents seized during raids and getting details of his various banks accounts. His illegal assets may cross Rs.50 million or more but it’s now confirmed at least Rs.40 million,” a source in the bureau said.
