RANCHI - Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who is in jail for the last 11 months, Thursday appeared disappointed at not being able to celebrate Diwali with his family.

“There is no Holi or Diwali celebration for me,” said Koda while talking to reporters at a Ranchi court where he was produced in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Koda was presented in the court of Vinay Kant Khan who extended his judicial remand till Nov 18.

Koda, an MP from Chaibasa constituency, said he would move the Jharkhand High Court to seek permission to attend the upcoming parliament session.

“The court denied permission to me to attend parliament saying that my case has been transferred to other court. I will appeal in the high court to get permission to attend parliament,” he said.

Koda is in jail since Nov 30 last year. He was arrested in a DA case. He is at the centre of a Rs.25,000 crore money laundering scam.

Koda’s close aide Vinod Sinha was also presented before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court and his judicial remand was extended till Nov 18.
