Trinamool supporter killed in clash with CPI-M workers

KOLKATA - One person was shot dead and four people were injured Tuesday as clashes between the ruling Marxist and the Trinamool Congress broke out in the city’s posh satellite township of Salt Lake, police said.

Balai Mondal, a Trinamool Congress supporter, was killed and four supporters of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) sustained injuries in political clashes between the two parties in Kulipara area. The Trinamool Congress leadership has decided to observe a Black Day in Kulipara Wednesday.

“One person has been killed. He is said to be a Trinamool Congress supporter. Four supporters of CPI-M have also been injured in the clashes. We have detained one person. Investigation is on,” said Superintendent of Police (North 24 Parganas) Rahul Srivastava.
