NEW DELHI - A security guard posted at the residence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal committed suicide, police said Sunday.

Thirty five-year-old Parishan Marak from the Indian Reserve Battalion was posted at 6, Ashoka Road, and was a native of Meghalaya.

The incident took place at around 11 p.m. Saturday night.

“We heard sounds of gunshots. We found him dead on his room’s bed. He shot himself in the head with his rifle,” a security guard posted at the residence told IANS.

He was immediately taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he was pronounced dead. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot.

According to his colleagues, Marak was tense for the past few days as his son was not well and he had asked for leave which was denied to him by his seniors.
