BEIJING - At least 26 miners have been killed in an explosion in a coal mine in China with rescuers battling to reach 11 others still trapped underground, Xinhua reported Sunday.

“Based on past experience, the remaining 11 miners could be buried in coal dust,” an official said.

The incident took place Saturday when 276 miners were working in the mine in Yuzhou city in Henan province. A total of 239 workers escaped.
