20 killed in China mine accident

BEIJING - At least 20 miners were killed in a gas explosion at a coal mine in central China’s Henan province Saturday, authorities said.

The accident took place at about 6 a.m. in Yuzhou city, Xinhua reported.

More than 30 miners were believed to be working in the shaft when the accident occurred, officers said, adding that rescue work was underway to save the trapped workers.
