COLONTAR, HUNGARY (GaeaTimes.com)- The images and footages of the Hungary Toxic sludge that has wrecked the lives and properties in a number of villages in the country have shocked the web users in recent times. The toxic sludge damaged the area and got into waterbodies after devastating the villages. The officials and the Hungary government expressed the worry earlier that the sludge may after all reach Danube which is Europe’s second longest river. The worst has come true and the latest reports suggest that the toxic wave has indeed reached Danube through the streams and rivulets.

The crews who have been pressed into operation for controlling the damage are trying their level best to save Danube’s ecology from the Hungary Toxic sludge. They are reportedly pouring materials in the stream that can neutralize the alkaline content of the sludge. The first river which to be affected by the poisonous sludge is Marcal and the fish in the river have all died. So far Danube is not majorly affected. The casualty stands at 4 and the number of injured people has shot up to 150 as per the recent update. The figure can change since a number of people are still missing.

The reports suggests that the PH level in Hungary Toxic sludge was 9 which is on the higher side at the time it got into Danube water. The workers are using acetic acid and plastic to mitigate the effect of the sludge on the water. The plant has been shut down but the damage is done. How far the ecology can be saved is the point that makes the environmentalists worried.
