BHUBANESWAR - At least 42 villagers in Orissa who went missing in the Bay of Bengal were rescued Thursday, police said.

The residents of Nuagaon village had gone in a new motorised country boat to visit some nearby temples Monday. They were missing since Tuesday evening.

“Local trawler association members and fishermen managed to locate the passengers on the sea shore near Karanjiamal village,” Superintendent of Police J.N. Pankaj told IANS, adding that all were safe.

“Some fault had developed in the boat. Since the sea was rough, the villagers took shelter in a forested area of the shore,” he said.
