Extensive searches in Agra after Delhi incident

AGRA - Extensive searches were carried out at malls, railway stations, bus stands and around historical monuments in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district following the shooting incident in Delhi, police here said Monday.

The Agra police led by Deputy Inspector General Dev Kumar Antony carried out the searches late Sunday.

A flag march was conducted in Mantola, Nai ki Mandi area, and vehicles were checked, a police official said.

A large number of people were photographed around the Taj Mahal and two dozen touts rounded up in the drive, the police official said.

Agra is on high alert, the official added.

Two armed men on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire outside the historic Jama Masjid in Delhi Sunday morning, injuring two Taiwanese men. Just a few hours after the incident, a car went up in flames about 100 metres from the ancient mosque.
