Tropical Storm Igor drifting north in the Atlantic
MIAMI — Tropical Storm Igor is drifting in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa near the Cape Verde Islands.
Maximum sustained winds for the storm Thursday are near 40 mph (65 kph). The National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm could begin strengthening some on Friday.
A tropical storm watch has been issued for the southern Cape Verde Islands.
The storm is located about 65 miles (110 kilometers) northwest of Brava in the Cape Verde Islands and is moving northwest at about 10 mph (17 kph).
