9 Portuguese tourists killed in Morocco bus crash

RABAT, Morocco — Morocco’s state news agency says nine Portuguese tourists have been killed when their bus overturned in northern Morocco in rough weather.

The MAP news agency says 14 people were seriously injured in the accident Wednesday en route from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta to the Moroccan city of Tetouan.

Those killed were a teenage girl, seven women and one man, according to MAP. The bus was carrying 47 Portuguese tourists and a Moroccan tour guide, who was among the injured.

Moroccan King Mohammed VI expressed his condolences and offered to pay medical and repatriation costs, according to MAP.
