GURGAON - A car mechanic drowned after he fell into a drain in this satellite town of the national capital and his body was recovered Sunday, police said.

“Manish Sharma had come to rectify a snag in an Indica car in the DLF Phase-I area. As the drain was overflowing due to rain Saturday, he fell into it. His body was recovered Sunday afternoon by fire department officials,” a police officer told IANS.

Sharma was an employee of a car rental company.

“Many cars were submerged in rain water and developed snags. A resident called the mechanic but even he was not aware that the mechanic had fallen into the drain,” the officer said.

“When Sharma could not be traced Sunday, the authorities launched a rescue operation and recovered the body,” he added.
