Family of Chandigarh police chief’s cook found dead

CHANDIGARH - The wife and three minor children of the Chandigarh Police chief’s cook were found dead in their house in the police lines here under mysterious circumstances, police said Monday.

Vishnu Kumar, who works at the house of Inspector General Pardeep Srivastava, lives in police lines colony in Sector 26 here. Police have registered a case and started investigations.

According to the police, the dead were identified as Kumar’s 29-year-old wife and three children, two daughters and a son aged five, eight and nine years.

“Right now it is very difficult to comment on the reason behind these deaths,” a police official said.

“We are waiting for the post-mortem reports and we are also taking the help of sniffer dogs and forensic experts. We also suspect that somebody might have mixed poison in their food, therefore we have collected some samples of food from the house and sent them for tests,” he said.
