Bus Crash In Missouri Claims Two Lives, 53 Wounded

GRAY SUMMIT (GaeaTimes.com)- A series of rear-end collisions involving four vehicles on Thursday killed two people and left around 50 injured. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office has validated that the four-vehicle collision took place on Highway 44 near Gray Summit which is at a distance of 32 miles in the south-west direction of St. Louis in the state of Missouri. The large number of students who were injured in the crash were admitted to medical facilities where preliminary treatment was administered to them.

The Missouri Highway Patrol officials have divulged that the school bus crash in Missouri took place at about 10:15 am in Interstate 44 when a lorry was hit from behind by a pickup truck. The wreckage was then slammed by a bus which was in turn hit hard by another bus. Officials have confirmed that a girl student who was aboard one of the vehicles and the driver of the pickup truck lost their lives in the accident, however, their names has not been released to the media.

The two buses were carrying high school students from the St. James district school who were mostly members of a school band, to the Six Flags amusement parks which was at distance of about 16 kilometers from where the bus crash in Missouri took place. Around 36 of the injured students were taken to the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center which is situated in St. Louis while the rest were taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center. Meanwhile, Joy Tucker who is the superintendent of the St.James school system has stated that the town is devastated by the incident.
