RANCHI - Three days after he was abducted by suspected Maoists, an engineer of the Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) was rescued from a jungle in Jharkhand’s Palamau district, police said Saturday.

According to the police, N.K. Pathak, an engineer posted in Magadh coal project of CCL, was rescued late Friday from a jungle in Palamau district, around 170 km from here.

Pathak was abducted by 8-10 Maoists late Wednesday while he was having dinner in his ancestral home in Soparam village in Chatra district, around 190 km from here, police said.

On Friday, CCL executives had threatened to disrupt coal dispatch in case Pathak was not rescued.

Police had set up different teams to rescue the abducted engineer.
