Train Accident In West Bengal: Railway Minister Expresses Doubt

KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In the wake of the another train accident in West Bengal on Monday morning, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has revealed to the media that she is still ’suspicious’ about the circumstances that led to the tragedy. When asked about the probable causes that might have resulted in the mishap, the Railway Minister stated that were some doubts about the cause of the train accident in West Bengal as the officials are still in the process of searching for the vital clues.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee further added that the mishap was indeed a ’sad incident’ given the fact that as many as fifty people are reported to have lost their lives in the train accident in West Bengal. The Union Railway Minister went on to point out that the mishap was surely not a casual thing while emphasizing that all the necessary steps would be taken to find out the culprits and actions would be taken against whoever is responsible for the tragedy. However, as of now it is still unclear whether an inquiry has been ordered into the train accident. Nevertheless, the Railway Minister has declared that a compensation of Rs 5 lakh would be paid to the families of the deceased while one family member of the dead would be given employment. The injured would be granted Rs 1 lakh while those with minor injuries would get Rs 25,000 in compensation.

The train accident in West Bengal which left at least fifty dead took place in the Sainthia station in the district of Birbhum early Monday morning Sealdah-bound Uttar Banga Express slammed into the stationary Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express.
