NEW DELHI - A man was arrested for bootlegging and 32 cartons of illicit liquor was seized from him, police said Wednesday.

Gulzar Mohammed, 25, was arrested late Saturday at a police checkpost in Aman Vihar area in north Delhi.

“The car was signalled to stop but the driver tried to speed off. The constables chased it on their motorcycle. The driver tried to take a turn and lost control,” a senior police official said.

According to police, Gulzar disclosed that he procured the illicit liquor from Haryana and sold it in Delhi for handsome profit.

“He used his own Santro Car for transporting the liquor to Delhi and distributing it to small bootleggers,” the police officer said.
