Five killed in Chhattisgarh road accident

RAIPUR - At least five people were killed and some 20 others injured when a crowded and speeding minibus overturned in Chhattisgarh Wednesday, police said.

The minibus, with 35 people on board, overturned as the driver, who was apparently under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle. The accident occurred in Raigarh, some 220 km from here.

The injured have been admitted to a government hospital, an officer at the police headquarters here told IANS.

Soon after the accident occurred, residents of the area gathered at the site, beat up the driver and handed him over to the police.
