BUDAPEST - Hungarian customs officers searching a Greek-registered Alfa Romeo car were surprised to find a man hiding in a “cramped, airless” cavity under the dashboard, officials said Friday.

Both the Greek driver and the man, a Pakistani citizen, were handed over to Hungarian police, spokesman for the Hungarian customs service Jeno Sipos told the state news agency MTI.

The officers became suspicious when they noticed the dashboard of the car entering Hungary from Serbia had been tampered with, although the driver said he had nothing to declare.
