NTSB discussing cause of SC Learjet crash

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Federal officials will discuss why a Learjet hurtled off a South Carolina runway, causing a crash that killed four people and injured Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM.

The National Transportation Safety Board is scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday to determine probable cause for the September 2008 crash at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

The crash killed four and left Barker and DJ AM seriously injured. DJ AM later died of a drug overdose.

The pilots were trying to abort takeoff. Investigators say the plane’s reverse thrusters were not in the right position.
