SINGAPORE - Singapore authorities Friday charged an Indian man with the murder this week of a 30-year-old Philippine tourist, a media report said.

Gopinathan Nair Remadevi Bijukumar, 34, was suspected of stabbing Roselyn Reyes Pascua to death, the online edition of The Straits Times newspaper reported.

Pascua’s body was found Monday in a rented room. She came to Singapore about three weeks ago to visit relatives and friends.

If convicted, Bijukumar faces the death penalty under Singapore law.
