NEW DELHI - A local court Tuesday allowed former communications minister A. Raja, lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, to attend court proceedings through video-conferencing.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini said proceedings shall be conducted through video-conferencing from Tihar Jail March 3 and Raja would not be physically brought to court.

The former minister Monday moved an application in court seeking conduct of court proceedings from Tihar Jail through video-conferencing.

Raja’s counsel Ramesh Gupta said that considering the security of the accused, his remand proceedings may be conducted through video-conferencing, as facility of video linkage was available both in Patiala House district courts as well as in Tihar Jail.

He also said Raja was under threat from other undertrials who travel with him to court in jail van.
